Mentoring

EAST facilitates a combination of mentoring arrangements among peers, between professors and students, and between students and scientists already established in their fields. Tiered mentoring is an effective, iterative strategy in which established STEM professionals mentor graduate and undergraduate students, who then mentor high school students. High school students with disabilities can also be matched with STEM professors and professionals, who offer support, guidance, and encouragement. Online conversations and face-to-face meetings are beneficial, and ongoing interaction is important.
